Battle of Helopherion Episode 3: The Guns of Avarok

At the Battle of the Thadrik River, the Merchant Households' offensive against the Volgan Cossacks and Iron Warriors was blunted and the war for Helopherion settled into a stalemate. In an attempt to regain the advantage, Helena Gauntë demanded reinforcements, and now, finally, the relief fleet has arrived. In this long-delayed installment of the Battle of Helopherion, the Iron Warriors and Volgans raid a orbital defence battery emplacement that has sprung into life and begun firing at the IVth Legion fleet. After this Zone Mortalis (-ish) battle, the stage is set for an epic engagement in the void using the Battlefleet Gothic rules.

Background

Battle of Helopherion Episode 2: Bridge on the River Thadrik

After the Battle of Fort Kasrik, the XIIIth Merchant Household was forced to pause briefly in the face of stronger than expected resistance from the Volgan Cossack regiments. Now they are ready to move again. In the second episode of the Battle of Helopherion campaign, the Houses attempt to seize a key bridge across the strategic Thadrik River. However, the Volgan forces have been unexpecteldly bolstered by some unlikely allies. The Iron Warriors Legion has entered the war...

Two-Week Hobby Challenge, 14 January to 28 January

As mentioned on the show, from now on we'll be posting the successful Two-Week Hobby Challenges onto our blog! This allows us to better showcase the great work the community is doing, and as the blog posts will come out closer to when the challenges are actually due (rather than when the episode drops), it will hopefully make the whole thing slightly less confusing! At the end of this post there is also the Challenge Calendar to keep track of when the phases start and end!

Episode 47: Infantry Tactics, Painting the Dreadwing, and Pharos Part I

In this episode of The Age of Darkness we talk infantry tactics and how to run a footslogging list. In Painting Black (and Other Colours) Myles takes us through converting and painting the darkest part of the darkest legion, the Dark Angels' Dreadwing. We then begin a two-part discussion of the novel Pharos by Guy Haley, before closing out with the Vox-Box and our 2017 Hobby Resolutions.
